Fit
Can an adjustable base go inside my existing bed frame?
Short answer
Usually, yes. Remove the slats or box spring, measure the inside of your frame, and make sure it is at least as long and wide as the base: Full 74.5″ × 53.5″, Queen 80″ × 59.5″, King 80″ × 76″. The base stands on its own legs inside the frame, so set the legs high enough that the head and foot sections clear the side rails as they lift.
Check your frame’s inside dimensions
Measure the clear space inside your frame, in inches. This checks length and width; also check the side rails and moving parts below.

How it works
A kaipuyiree base is a complete bed on its own: steel frame, deck, motors and six legs. It does not hang from your bed frame or sit on its slats. When you put it “inside” a frame, it stands on the floor in the space where the slats or box spring used to be, and your frame’s headboard, footboard and side rails stay around it.
Measure these four things
- Inside length and width. Take out the slats, the box spring or the support deck. Measure the inside of the frame from rail to rail. It must be larger than the base: Full 74.5″ × 53.5″, Queen80″ × 59.5″, King 80″ × 76″ (length × width). Leave a little room on each side so the deck does not rub the rails as it lifts.
- Height of the side rails. Measure from the floor to the top of the rails. Set the base’s legs (adjustable for 7.5″–12.5″ of clearance) so the deck sits at or a little above the top of the rails. If the deck sits deep inside the rails, the head and foot sections can catch on them when they rise.
- Anything in the middle. Many frames have a center rail or center legs. Check whether they would sit where the base’s legs or motors go. Only remove a center support if the frame stays sturdy without it.
- Space at the head. The head section swings up from its hinge. Leave a small gap between the base and the headboard, then raise the head all the way before you put the mattress on to make sure it clears the headboard, a nightstand and anything mounted on the wall.
Base sizes
On a small screen, scroll the table sideways to see every column.
| Size | Fits mattress | Base (L × W) | Max. capacity | Models |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Full | 54″ × 75″ | 74.5″ × 53.5″ | 900 lb | Classic, Massage |
| Queen | 60″ × 80″ | 80″ × 59.5″ | 900 lb | Classic, Massage |
| King | 76″ × 80″ | 80″ × 76″ | 950 lb | Classic |
What not to do
- Do not put the base on top of a box spring, slats or a platform deck. It needs to stand on the floor on its own legs.
- Do not let cords run where the base moves. Keep the power cord clear of the frame and the moving sections.
- Do not force a fit. If the deck rubs the rails anywhere in its range, raise the legs or use the base on its own.
No frame? That is fine
The base is finished in charcoal-gray fabric with black legs and looks tidy on its own, with a fitted sheet and a bed skirt if you like. You do not need a frame at all.
Related questions
How high off the floor is it?
The legs screw in to set 7.5″ to 12.5″ of clearance between the floor and the frame. This is under-bed clearance, not the height of the mattress surface: the deck and your mattress add height above it.
Which mattresses work on a kaipuyiree base?
Mattresses 10″ thick or less that can bend: memory foam, gel memory foam, latex, and latex or foam hybrids with pocket springs. Traditional innerspring coil mattresses, thick firm one-piece mattresses, air mattresses and water beds are not recommended.
Is the King a split King?
No. The kaipuyiree King shown here is one 80″ × 76″ base for a standard 76″ × 80″ King mattress, so both sides move together. Independent sides need separate bases and compatible mattresses. Twin XL and Split King are not included in this catalog.
